About Nicole (She/Her)
Nicole offers a warm, steady, and relational presence in her work with children, teens, and families. At Modern Youth, she creates a space where young people can exhale — where big feelings are met with calm rather than alarm, and curiosity rather than judgment. From that foundation of safety, they begin building emotional regulation skills, deeper self-understanding, and stronger relationships at home and beyond.
Her work is shaped by insight into how culture, identity, and systemic stressors impact a young person's experience. She believes in meeting young people not as problems to be solved, but as individuals in particular, meaningful moments of becoming themselves. She brings attunement and deep respect to her work with youth across each developmental stage:
Younger children with impulses faster than their words, who are discovering what they can do, what they can't, and that they're bigger than their biggest feelings
Children on the edge of adolescence, still inquisitive and unguarded, eager to discover what they're capable of
Early teens immersed in the work of growing up, navigating the tension between belonging and losing themselves
Older teens standing at the threshold of adulthood, searching for values of their own and a sense of purpose they can claim
Nicole supports neurodivergent youth in understanding and honoring how their brains and bodies work, rather than trying to make them someone they're not.
While her primary focus at Modern Youth is working with children, teens, and families, she may also support individual adult clients on a case-by-case basis when clinically appropriate.

What Sessions Look Like
Sessions with Nicole are built around what is needed on any given day. Her approach is trauma-informed and developmentally responsive, always moving at a pace the young person can hold. For those in crisis, in pain, or struggling to find reasons to stay, Nicole holds groundedness, helping them slow down and return to the present moment, finding stability in their senses and their surroundings before anything else.
The therapeutic work comes in many forms. With younger children, it may unfold through imaginative play, art, or storytelling. With older children and teens, it may look like conversations over a game of cards, role-playing communication skills, or learning to recognize and express emotions in safe ways. These approaches are not incidental; they are how young people process experience and make sense of themselves.
Within that space, Nicole helps youth find language for their inner world, build courage to express themselves, and develop tools for moving through the feelings and moments that seem most overwhelming. The trust built in session becomes a bridge to clearer communication, greater confidence, and stronger relationship
Working with Caregivers
Growth doesn't stop when the session ends. Nicole believes this work is most powerful when caregivers are thoughtfully included. She collaborates with parents while honoring the privacy necessary for young people to feel safe. When helpful, she offers parent sessions focused on strengthening communication, understanding emotional patterns, and supporting growth at home.
